Edge of Innocence

The loss of Innocence, as represented in this piece by the fawn losing its spots and growing antlers, is something each person has experienced. Innocence, depicted by the twinkle present in the eyes and wonder painted across the body, is something not often recognized as missing until it is replaced.

This work poses the question “When does Innocence leave us?” Is it when the day becomes dusk? Is it when legs ache from growth? Is it when the crown forms antlers?
